Addison is ONE!!

Addison turned one December 26th!! I can't believe our baby is barely a baby! It has been a crazy, wonderful Christmas/Birthday weekend. We went back to back with parties. I really think Addison knew this particular party was all about her. She woke up fresh from a nap with 18 people waiting on her and she greeted them with smiles. She never fussed one time during her entire party. She strutted her stuff in a custom made outfit from Badas boutique ( adorable!) We had such wonderful family all around and there was so much love in the air. Addison is so blessed to have the amazing extended family that she has. We were so blessed with such awesome gifts that Addison is definitely getting plenty of play time with. Thank you so much to my beautiful family for helping with food and always being so generous. Enjoy the cute pictures.
The cake pictures got uploaded backwards but you can see the progression.

What else really needs to be said here...She loves her sweets!

You can see how excited she is to see the cake (below). Then she just can't wait for the candle to be blown out and she takes and taste from the icing (above).

Mommy and daddy gave her a pink piano and she loved it! She wouldn't stop playing it during the rest of the party. She dances as she plays (bounces and sways) and tries to sing.
Aunt Lindsay gave her super cool pink Crocs, which might I add, they are the ONLY shoes that actually stay on.
Great Grammy gave her a birthday bear from "Build a Bear." Her name in Noelle.
Aunt Tammy gave Addison her second favorite gift, pot/cook set. She plays with it all the time. Today she was trying to feed me with the spoon and would dip it back into the pot and then bring it to my mouth. Then she proceeded to try to spoon feed her baby doll. She amazes me!

Addison is one and...
  • stands unsupported roughly 8 seconds
  • says "bye" and waves
  • says "dada"
  • blows kisses
  • give open mouth kisses
  • know how to use a phone
  • tries to feed her baby doll
  • pretends to cook
  • plays the piano (baby style)
  • in 18 month clothes
  • weighs 25 pounds
  • 30 inches tall

Another Bun in the oven!

Most of you may have already heard but I will officially shout it out that, WE ARE PREGNANT! I am now 12 weeks and feeling great. I feel better than I did with Addison. It was kind of a surprise but we are very excited. The baby is due June 28th. Can't wait to find out if it is a boy or girl. I have many people telling me it will be a boy. The kids will be 18 months apart and hopefully best friends. Everyone tells me that this next one is going to break all the rules, since Addie has been the most amazing baby. I think I am destined to have perfect children! Well as least perfect in my sight :) Thank you to everyone for sharing in our joy!!

It's been a while...

I have been super busy lately with Christmas cards, shopping, decorating...oh and trying to get all this done with a baby. She won't be a baby for long. She turns one December 26th. What am I to do. Anyways she had a recent doctor's visit and weighs 24.6 pounds and is 30 inches tall. That puts her into the 90th percentile. She is still crawling all over the place and loves to use her walker, although is timid with it as well. She has 8 teeth and is getting her lower canine an top molar. I think I can officially say her first word is Dada. Of course consistency will tell for sure.

We have our real Christmas tree up and Addison has not gone towards it once. Ryan and I toiled over where to put it so she would be less likely to get into it. I even thought I was going to have to buy this expensive gate...she has not even gone to check it out. So surprising!

Ryan and I are doing well. We are still trying to assess if Conver/Hickory is our home. We think it is but for some reason it's just hard to make it official. Ryan has started the process of potentially purchasing the practice. There is a lot of legal jargon and things that have to come together before the deed is done. Ryan and I volunteer at the dental free clinic two Tuesdays a month, where I assist him. I have learned a ton about dentistry and have figured out that using the suction is the most important thing I can do to help Ryan. It was also the most awkward tool to get used to. It always seemed to gravitate towards everything but where I was wanting to suction.

Here are some pictures from the last month.

11 months...almost.

Addison turns 11 months November 26th. I can't believe her one year birthday is in one month! She has changed so much and understands so much, it blows my mind. Here are some things she has learned:
  • Crawls all over the house
  • Loves to open/close doors
  • pulls up on everything and furniture walks
  • recently learned how to walk with her walker (yeahhh)
  • when her toy phone rings she holds it up to her ear (I never taught her that)
  • waves bye and hi
  • says "mama" and "dada" but still isn't completely consistent
  • drinks out of a sippy cup
  • feeds herself completely
  • eats almost anything we eat
  • favorite foods : yogurt, avocado, banana, meat (any kind of meat, girl loves her protein)
  • gives kisses (but you really have to work hard for it)
  • sleeps 9 to 12 hours at night straight
  • takes 1 nap/day
  • crawls to her bath tub on her own even when it is not her bath time (she loves her bath)

Harper's 1st Birthday!

One of my best friend's daughter, turned one on October 31st and she threw a party Oct. 30th. She trusted me enough to make this beautiful cake for about 30 people. It was so tasty. There were so many babies and kids all dressed up in costume. It was a lot of fun and Katie and Jeremy threw a great party.

The birthday bunny with Addie the honey bee! Harper knew the whole party was for her, the way she was crawling everywhere and expecting people to move for her. She didn't fuss once during that 3-4 hour period.
That's my girl. I think we put her in that bee costume 4 times by the time the 31st was over. I was ready to see it go (such a hassle to put on) !
Katie the super mom is wearing the birthday bunny, Harper!!
Alex and her precious monkey,Damon. We had such a good time catching up.
Need I say more, daddy and his girl! Well I will... Ryan is seriously the best daddy in the world. He is so entertaining when reading bedtime stories. I myself get lured in. I am so blessed to have him and the share such a wonderful girl with him.
This has nothing to do with Halloween but had to add it in. She is so intrigued with everything I do now. She seriously was taking things out of the dishwasher to help me! You can't start them to young for chores!!

Our family adventure

The Sigmon family went on a very exciting adventure...zip lining at Hawks Nest!! A total of 14 family members went, my mom included. It was the weekend the leaves were predicted to be perfect, and they were. After zipping we all went to Grammy's cabin and had a family reunion cook out. It was so much fun. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful family, inside and out! I hope we get to get together more often.

At 9 1/2 months Addison is...

  • crawling all over the house
  • pulling up on anything she can get her hands on to
  • furniture surfing
  • squirmy as can be
  • smiling and laughing all the time
  • eating finger food very well (any vegetable/fruit, cheerios, and chicken)
  • very eager to do things on her on
  • babbling more
  • says "dada" and "mama" and "baba"
  • has lots of play dates
  • sleeps through the night...FINALLY!!
  • has 1-2 naps a day
  • beginning to understand waving
  • sits through reading a book
  • throws tantrums when things are taken away
  • loves it when daddy sings
She is such a precious joy to have and we are so blessed to have her. I thank God every day for her. It is a delight to watch her as she learns how to move and how to fully play with her toys. I can tell she is thinking about taking steps but is scared to let go of the end table. She will reach for your hand and when she grabs hold of your hand she smiles real big (as if to say, "thanks mom, I know you got me") and takes a wobbly step. Time has already flown by so fast. I want to soak in every bit of her. She is only this young once. Thank you, thank you Lord for Addison Noelle Sigmon!!

New things...

Addison had her first swing experience last week and she LOVED it!! She giggled the entire time.
For some reason she loves to crawl under the table but then never knows how to get out.
She eats 3 meals a day all by herself. She is so proud!
When daddy left for work one day she crawled to the door and did this. So precious. She says "da da" all the time. Not sure if she really understands what she is saying.
What else is there to say about this one

Night Night...

As most of you know Addison is the best baby by day, but did you all know that she is not so good at night. She always woke up once a night to nurse (I was fine with that), but when she turned 8 months, separation anxiety kicked in and night/nap time became a nightmare. She would cry for one hour sometimes before falling asleep. I struggled with the "cry it out" method but tried it anyway. I also altered our night time routine. Now she nurses, brushes teeth, we read the same book every night and I sing her a song. It has been a rough one and a half weeks but...it WORKED!!! For the last 3 nights she has gone to sleep with out any tears!! It is sooo rewarding to know that pushing through all that crying paid off. Now I might start to tackle that night feeding. Maybe not yet...I am just happy she is going to sleep again!!

The picture above is the sleeping position I am finding her in when she plays or fusses herself to sleep. I always am so worried she can't breathe and check on her.

Addison's first hiking journey

We had a wonderful, exhausting time hiking Baker's Mountain with Uncle Terry and Aunt Susan. It was a VERY steep hike and Uncle Terry helped with some of the weight. She fell asleep on the way down.

At the top of the mountain overlooking Hickory.

Play time

Addison is getting really good with her toys. She is so independent when it comes to playing by herself.

Her BFF Harper came over to play. Addison does her best to keep up with her since Harper is a speedy girl.

This is how my sweet angel sleeps. She now is starting to need some extra love when she goes down for naps.

Random life moments

This is the table Addison always tries to pull up on and is unsuccessful so she just decides to eat it. Sounds logical doesn't it?!?

We attended our annual Apple Festival in Hendersonville, NC. We met out dear friends Katie, Jeremy, and their daughter Harper there. We had such a great time catching up and of course getting the girls together for some BFF time! It looks like they are fighting but you know how it is, sometimes you just have to feel the person to get to know them.
Mimi's birthday and cake I made. She is such a wonderful mother and mother-in-law.
Addison getting some internet time. She gets lots of email from Babies R US.

Aunt Lindsay, in the spirit of Clemson football, got Addison this cut dress. Of course she looks good in orange and purple. Lindsay made her laugh so hard all evening. She love her Lindsay!

I made this cake for my mother-in-law, Martha. I won't say how old she turned. All you need to know is that she is beautiful and looks very young! I was very proud of how it turned out and tasted.

Addie is now 8 months old and is crawling, trying to pull up on everything, attempting to eat some finger foods, throwing tantrums, has 4 teeth and working on 4 more, and full of smiles all the time!
Aunt Tammy came to visit. We love seeing her and hope to see her more often now that we live closer!!
